Caravan valuation: how much is your touring caravan worth?
Tell Bradley the make, model and year. A person texts or emails your price range.

A caravan valuation is a price range, not a single number. The most useful one starts from similar touring caravans currently for sale, then allows for everything that makes yours different. Here's what goes into a realistic figure, and what you get from Bradley's free valuation. Bradley values touring caravans only, not static caravans or holiday homes.
What makes up a realistic caravan valuation
Two caravans with the same badge and year can sit in quite different ranges. Here's what decides where yours sits.
Make, model and year
The starting point is what similar touring caravans are advertised for now: the same make and model, or close, from a similar year. With no registration, the exact model name and year do the job a reg does for a motorhome. An advert shows an asking price, not what the caravan finally sold for, which is one reason a valuation should be a range.
Berths and layout
Berths decide who it suits: a two-berth tends to appeal to couples, a four or six-berth to families. A fixed bed, an island bed, an end washroom or a rear lounge each has its own following, and a layout in demand can lift where yours sits.
Axles, weight and towing
Single or twin axle, and the weight, decide which cars can tow it. A heavier twin axle needs a larger tow car, and that can mean fewer buyers. The licence side is simpler than it used to be: if you got your licence from 1 January 1997, you can tow a trailer up to 3,500kg maximum authorised mass (towing with a car on GOV.UK (opens in a new tab)).
Motor mover, awning and extras
A motor mover is a popular extra, especially for a caravan kept on a drive. An awning, solar, a tracker and a wheel lock add appeal too. Extras don't usually add back what they cost, but they help yours stand out.
Damp
Damp is one of the first things many buyers ask about. A dated damp report, with the readings and where they were taken, gives buyers facts instead of guesses, and any damp is better known at the start than found at a viewing. The guides explain how to check a caravan for damp and selling a caravan or motorhome with damp.
Service and habitation history
A touring caravan has no MOT, so its service record does that job for buyers. A yearly habitation service with dated paperwork, which usually includes damp readings, shows a buyer it's been looked after.
CRiS, keys and paperwork
Most UK touring caravans carry a 17-character CRiS number, etched into the windows and printed on the CRiS document, which helps a buyer match the caravan to its paperwork. Have the CRiS document, the handbook and every key ready: door, lockers, hitch lock and wheel lock. Missing keys or paperwork give buyers a reason to offer less. Here's what a CRiS number is.
Condition
Upholstery, floors, windows and rooflights, appliances, tyres (age as well as tread) and the chassis all come into it. Describe wear honestly, so the range reflects the caravan a buyer will actually see.
The time of year
Buyer interest follows the touring season: it builds from spring, peaks through summer and is lowest around December, so the same caravan can sit in a different range depending on when it's advertised.
Why online tools and price guides miss the mark
Most online tools start from the make, model and year. They can't see the condition, the extras, the service history or a damp report. Some tools are run by firms that buy caravans themselves, so ask whether the figure is a trade offer or a private-sale range before you rely on it.
Printed price guides give a figure for a typical example, not for yours, and they date as the market moves. That's why Bradley's valuation starts from real adverts for similar touring caravans, and shows you which ones.
What Bradley's free valuation gives you
- A price range, and the most likely figure within it.
- The similar caravans Bradley compared yours with, with their asking prices, so you can judge it for yourself. Your range is priced against at least 3 comparable adverts.
- Reviewed by a person. Every valuation is reviewed by a person before it's sent. If you decide to sell through Hitchbay, Bradley, who has spent years buying and selling motorhomes and caravans, is your named contact.
- Bradley sends your range by text or email, then you can talk it through with him. Prefer to keep it to email? Just say.
- An estimate, not an offer. You set the asking price, and nothing is listed until you've agreed it.
Bradley prices it to sell, not to flatter. You'll see the adverts it's up against, and if it isn't getting enquiries, he'll show you why and suggest a new price. The final say is always yours.
Have these to hand
- The make, model and year
- The CRiS number, if you have it
- Service invoices, the last habitation service and any damp report, with dates
- Extras such as a motor mover or an awning
- Anything a buyer should know about, good or bad
Once you know what it's worth
A range helps whichever way you sell.
- Sell it from home through Hitchbay. Your caravan stays where it's kept, and you keep using it until it sells. Bradley handles buyer enquiries. We speak to buyers by phone before any viewing is arranged, and Bradley gives a buyer your address only after that call. He can offer buyers a video call first. One fee in pounds, shown before you sign, and nothing to pay unless it sells. Bradley's fee is due if it sells during the agreement, including to a buyer you find yourself. See how to sell your caravan from home.
- Sell it privately or part-exchange. Use the range to set your asking price, or to see the gap between a trade price and a private one. Read the best way to sell a motorhome or caravan first.
- Sell it to us. Would you rather not sell it yourself? We can make you a direct offer, with free UK nationwide collection, a hassle-free sale, and any outstanding finance settled.
