Motorhome valuation: how much is your motorhome worth?

Enter your reg. A person texts or emails your price range.

Step 1 of 2

What are you selling?

You only pay Bradley if it sells. No sale, no fee.

Your range by text or email, then talk it through with Bradley.

Hitchbay isn't open yet. You can look through the form, but it can't send anything to Bradley.

Would you rather sell it to us? We also buy directFree UK nationwide collection, a hassle-free sale and any outstanding finance settled for you.

A motorhome valuation is a price range, not a single number. The most useful one starts from similar motorhomes currently for sale, then allows for everything that makes yours different. Here's what goes into a realistic figure, why online calculators and printed price guides often miss, and what you get from Bradley's free valuation.

What makes up a realistic motorhome valuation

No two motorhomes are quite alike, even two of the same make, model and year. These are the things that decide where yours sits.

Comparable adverts

The starting point is what similar motorhomes are advertised for right now: the same converter and model, or close to it, of a similar age, layout and mileage. An advert shows an asking price, not what the motorhome finally sold for, which is one reason a valuation should be a range.

Condition

Bodywork, upholstery, appliances, tyres and the windscreen all come into it. Buyers notice small things at a viewing, and those shape how they see the rest. Describe wear honestly, so the range reflects the motorhome a buyer will actually see.

Mileage

Mileage is one of the first things a buyer asks about. They'll weigh it against the age and the service record, so the number on its own tells only part of the story.

Layout, seats and weight

Layout matters as much as size. A fixed bed, a rear lounge or an end washroom suits some buyers and not others, and the number of travel seats and berths decides who it's right for. Weight matters too. If someone passed their car test on or after 1 January 1997, their licence covers motorhomes up to 3,500kg maximum authorised mass, and anything heavier needs category C1 (driving licence categories on GOV.UK (opens in a new tab)). For a heavier motorhome, that can mean fewer buyers.

Damp

Damp is one of the first things many buyers ask about. A dated damp report, with the readings and where they were taken, gives buyers facts instead of guesses. If there's damp, it affects the range, and it's better known at the start than found at a viewing. The guides explain how to check for damp and selling a caravan or motorhome with damp.

Service and habitation history

A motorhome has two records that matter: the engine and chassis servicing, and the habitation side. A full history, with dated invoices and the last habitation check, shows a buyer it's been looked after. Buyers will ask about any gaps, so have an answer ready.

The time of year

Buyer interest follows the touring season. It builds from spring, is strongest through summer and is lowest around December. The same motorhome can sit in a different range depending on when it's advertised.

Why online calculators and price guides miss the mark

Online calculators usually start from the registration, age and mileage. They can't see the layout, the condition, the habitation history or a damp report, and motorhomes vary far more than cars do: the same base chassis can carry anything from a compact campervan to a large coachbuilt. Some calculators are run by firms that buy motorhomes themselves, so ask whether the figure is a trade offer or a private-sale range before you rely on it.

Printed price guides give a figure for a typical example, not for yours, and they go out of date as the market moves.

That's why Bradley's valuation starts from real adverts for similar motorhomes, and shows you which ones.

What Bradley's free valuation gives you

  • A price range, and the most likely figure within it.
  • The similar motorhomes Bradley compared yours with, currently for sale, with their asking prices, so you can see the working and judge it for yourself. Your range is priced against at least 3 comparable adverts.
  • Reviewed by a person. Every valuation is reviewed by a person before it's sent. If you decide to sell through Hitchbay, Bradley, who has spent years buying and selling motorhomes and caravans, is your named contact.
  • Bradley sends your range by text or email, then you can talk it through with him. Prefer to keep it to email? Just say.
  • An estimate, not an offer. You set the asking price, and nothing is listed until you've agreed it.

Bradley prices it to sell, not to flatter. You'll see the adverts it's up against, and if it isn't getting enquiries, he'll show you why and suggest a new price. The final say is always yours.

Have these to hand

  • The registration and roughly the mileage
  • The make, converter, model and year, and the layout
  • The MOT, service invoices and the last habitation check
  • Any damp report, with its date
  • Extras such as solar, an awning, a bike rack or upgraded batteries
  • Anything a buyer should know about, good or bad

Once you know what it's worth

A range helps whichever way you sell.

  • Sell it from home through Hitchbay. Your motorhome stays on your drive or in storage, and you keep using it until it sells. Bradley handles buyer enquiries. We speak to buyers by phone before any viewing is arranged, and Bradley gives a buyer your address only after that call. He can offer buyers a video call first. One fee in pounds, shown before you sign, and nothing to pay unless it sells. Bradley's fee is due if it sells during the agreement, including to a buyer you find yourself. See how to sell your motorhome from home.
  • Sell it privately. Use the range to set your asking price, and read the best way to sell a motorhome or caravan first.
  • Part-exchange. A private-sale range shows you the gap between a trade price and a private one, before you agree a deal.
  • Sell it to us. Would you rather not sell it yourself? We can make you a direct offer, with free UK nationwide collection, a hassle-free sale, and any outstanding finance settled.

Questions about motorhome valuations

Anything else? Send Bradley a question

Is the valuation free?

Yes, it's free, and there's no obligation to sell through Hitchbay.

Is the valuation an offer to buy?

No. It's an estimate, not an offer. If you'd like Bradley to buy it, he can make you a direct offer, with free UK nationwide collection, a hassle-free sale, and any outstanding finance settled.

Why might two valuations differ?

They often start from different places. A trade offer allows for the buyer's costs and margin. A private-sale range starts from what similar motorhomes are advertised for. Ask which one you're being given.

Can you value a campervan or a caravan?

Yes. Bradley values every kind of campervan, and touring caravans too, using the form on this page: just choose what you're selling. He doesn't value or sell static caravans or holiday homes. Read how Bradley can sell campervans and sell caravans, or see what goes into a touring caravan valuation.
